We had the mushroom start and it was excellent and couldn't fault the main meal fish and chips and sausages with spring onion mash. The atmosphere in the pub was very welcoming and cosy.

Booking online worked a charm. Disappointed that they had managed to sell out of fish and chips on a Friday at 7.30pm. Could also have done without the withering look and rude reply when asking if it was possible to make the squid starter into a main. (Other fish options being limited.) A place may charge London prices but there's no need for London service! I dread to think what they do to customers who are actually rude - pull out a pistol and shoot them, perhaps.

Disappointing. I have eaten well here before and thought it would be a good venue to meet friends for dinner. But some meals on menu were not available that evening (even a vegetarian risotto!) so little choice, and my potatoes were badly overcooked. Chef's night off?
