Nestled in the heart of an English country village, The Bell dates back to 1560. Heart-warming British dishes are served in eccentric but cosy surrounds, complete with a roaring log fire.
Seasonally changing menus are packed with fresh produce. Using ingredients sourced from local farms and suppliers, as well as fish fresh from the Sussex coast, expect uncomplicated British favourites alongside flavour-packed European dishes.
Filled with curiosities, The Bell’s eclectic design makes for a unique setting. Offering a host of local ales, the cosy bar exudes rustic charm, complete with wooden beams and exposed brickwork, whilst a tranquil beer garden is on hand for al fresco drinking and dining in warmer weather.
Close to many local attractions including several National Trust properties, Bewl Water and Bedgebury Pinetum, find The Bell Ticehurst a 20-minute drive from Tunbridge Wells.

We absolutely loved staying at The Bell. We loved the relaxed, rustic feel and the food was absolutely delicious. We loved the fact that it had a Spanish touch to it; octopus and prawn/squid was so good! The room was so comfy and homely, loved the bath in particular and the fact that we could bring our puppy. Everything was so perfect about our stay, no fuss or ponce, just brilliant!

I've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Bell and all the food was delicious. Its not standard pub grub, its innovative flavours, fresh and well presented. The staff are lovely.

Well, Firstly, very disappointed that no staff were wearing any form of mask or face shield, as your website indicated that you were conforming to the Government Covid rules. Second, although the food was good, but serving a 10 oz steak in a cereal bowl was not !!!, and cut up, what was all that about !!!! A steak needs to be served up on a plate. However my wife enjoyed the tapas, so we will be back Mr T Spencer

Really quirky building and decorated artistically, creating a good atmosphere. Staff lovely but disappeared for long periods. Simple menu with a Spanish theme, which I thought was a tad expensive. About £20 for small piece of grilled chicken with a yogurt dressing and chips. On arrival clientele were friendly in the bar area and told us ‘we don’t wear masks in here’, social distancing wasn’t taken seriously. Bar was enclosed with Perspex screening to protect staff, but waiting staff wore no protection. We were served our dinner in an area away from the bar/restaurant so felt safe there. Tables very sticky, probably layered with antibacterial spray without washing in between. I’ve been to restaurants that take better care of COVID protection.

Really friendly and attentive service. Great interior decor with a mix of old pub and modern vibes. Food was excellent - had the special of duck and great puddings. Menu can be a little hard to get your head around but they explain it to you. Really recommend this place.

A little disappointed to be honest. I love the Bell and it seems churlish to criticise pubs in this difficult time but we found the menu both confusing and limited. I get why there is less on offer (though other pubs haven't been as affected - maybe the size of kitchen?) but I really feel that they need to start with 4 or 5 pub standards, then add some of their specialities after that. This is my personal opinion of course and others may point out that one of the charms of the Bell is its quirkiness - all I can say is that I came away feeling underwhelmed about the food on offer and the amount I had to pay for it. I wish them well though.

We visit the Bell whenever we are in the area and have done for a few years- in fact it was 1st place we booked once lockdown lifted its our place of choice for anniversaries ,birthdays ( this latest visit was for husbands birthday) And to recommend to friends We can honestly say we have never had a disappointing meal at The Bell Be it lunch or dinner we have never been stuck for finding something that sounds appealing on the menu - my husband is a meat eater only and I usually opt for fish although I must add I’ve had incredible meat dishes at the Bell too The service is always lovely, friendly and efficient This visit I repeated what I’d ordered for our 1st post lockdown visit - it was so delicious I had to have it again- the octopus! Just melt in the mouth beautifully cooked my OH had chicken also delicious Sides were the incredible gem lettuce with Edemame and wasabi dressing and the baked sweet potato Deserts were the lemon posset and chocolate mousse Both delicious! The Bell has a talented chef and the food is good value for the sheer quality of ingredients and ambiance

great pub with lovely outside garden - we've been a few times over summer and love the theatre, smell and burgers from the outdoor grill. Try the chorizo fries - they are yummy
